The following is some random exploration, not related to any current shift. The session took place on The 60th day of The Aftermath in the YOLD 3175. Actually, I don't remember for sure.
12am: For this session I will be playing "Brain Sync - Sound Sleep - Delta waves" as I try to fall asleep. I am alone. It's cool, around the low 60s and the heat is on, but my walls leak heat. I am exhausted. Haven't had full sleep in weeks. Alarm is set for 8:30am. Water pump can be heard in the distant background. As for weather... cold.
12:03am: I begin. Laptop is next to me on the right playing the planned song.
.........
12:13am: I turn off the music. It was really freaking irritating.
Conclusion: Horrible experience, but may have been better if headphones were involved. May give another chance later.

Phi.

Staying relatively sane
Oh, you... hi.
I believe all realities are equally real, but not equally useful. I am a wine taster of realities. However, a really shitty wine taster that has no sense of taste and a very low alcohol tolerance. As such, following certain guidelines is important to keeping myself relatively stable. Not sane; stable.
If you would like to follow along with some of the shifts I chronicle here, I recommend first forming a plan and an exit strategy for each. Some people can maintain the ability to switch lenses at will (this is my personal aim and passion), but it is always possible to lose your anchor. So in this post I'm going to outline some strategies.
First off, before anything else, Research, Research, RESEARCH!!!! Know what you're about to pit your self against. Without knowing where you're going, you can not protect your self. Oh, and remember to share your findings.
It is advantageous to have a way to rediscover your anchor and dispel the power of your newly adopted beliefs lest they take over. To this end, I recommend that you maintain a skeptic's journal to later reference. Write down all your current holdings and personal principles. In addition, as you research, note objections you may have with aspects of the system.
Some belief systems turn out to be rather frightening the deeper you go. For the purpose of not stoning your neighbor to death in front of the gates of the city, develop strict guidelines to circumscribe your behavior. For example, when planning to shift to Judaism, I modified with the principle of "Do no harm" and "Perform no act of hatred," to shield against Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Finding loopholes may be a fun technique to stay mostly within the system. As a side note, I never actually started the shift. It's still on the table.
Also, and this is important for a number of reasons, keep a time table. There should be definite start and stop dates. Otherwise you may become intoxicated and push beyond the point of "no return." Rather, the point where we beat you over the head until you snap out of it.
Finally, be sure to notify your friends about what's going on and ensure they know where your journals are... Yeah... Okay, enough warnings.

Chaos Gnosticism
Chaos Gnosticism is defined here as any belief system that caters to the pursuit of experiencing chaos, first hand. The Chaos Gnostic seeks not just to observe, theorize, or mentally masturbate to the concept of chaos, but to experience it in its purist and most absolute form. They apply whichever tools and techniques prove themselves worthy. The aim is wrap their reality around the second pendulum, turning away from order's comforts and facing head-on a complete lack of causality as far as the mind's eye can see.
I plan to temporarily become a practitioner of Chaos Gnosticism, chronicling here my experiences, systems, and techniques. After the groundwork has been laid, I will take the plunge and you will hear all about it. Lucky you!
I plan to keep three different journals. The first to chronicle my day to day thoughts and happenings, the second to document my sessions (Everything about before, during, and after), and a third to jot down ideas about new techniques to be employed. I will post a template to use for the second. This may turn out to be too much work... But I hope I do it anyways, despite my irresponsibility.
If you're going to follow along, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, read the post on reality hacking safety and be wary of being lead to perform by preconceptions. This isn't a philosophical point; I am just saying don't spend your first day quiting your job and running around naked thinking somehow that means chaos... Reserve that for the fifth day ;-). Behavioral shifts are dangerous and you should plan that they either do not happen (learn to separate work from play) or plan for them to be guided. In other words; keep your pants on at work, but by all means take them off at home!
I encourage my readership to read along and to comment their own thoughts, feelings, or alternatives. Also, if you're following along, I highly recommend publishing at least the less private stuff.
Final words about the author. Chaos Gnosticism is a concept that was born in a bathroom while I was nodding off during extended sleep dep. I provide this tidbit as an offering of fuel, so that later you can tease me about my creation. Making fun is an important part of enlightenment.. or something like that.
I doubt I am the first to come up with the concept or the word pair. I suspect that I am either overwriting an already established word and/or definition. Actually, a quick Google search confirms this suspicion to some extent... But I'm totally better than them so :-p

Hello, Chaos!
Hello you.
Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? Is there Truth? These are profound questions that have plagued philosophers of all ages, questions so troubling many have gone mad in search of answers for... questions that I will not address here. This blog is not about finding truth; it's about creating and warping it... watching it rise and watching it fall and laughing along the way. Laughing as you make it happen.
I am restless on all levels. No one explanation or view point really does it for me. I have my favorites, of course, but I prefer switching around, feeling them concurrently, and pursuing (and perusing) new ones at a whim. My home base is not a single reality, but a feeling of what I can only refer to as my Self... or Will... or... or whatever other buzz words are trendy at the time. I accept that they are most likely illusory, but with everything else I weigh them by their usefulness and they have proved themselves repeatedly. Their realizations are where I keep my feet.
Through this blog, I seek to chronicle and share my experiences exploring new realities along with my research and personal techniques. Read this as "scrambling brains."
Obligatory warning to make my stuff seem potent: As I had said, I will go over techniques I either hypothesized or practiced. Please, do not take my techniques seriously. I have no idea what I'm doing and it's probably best that only one of us gets hurt along the way. Actually, you should take this as a guide of what not to do.
